Ever since my visit to Amsterdam, I’ve been unable to get the idea of myself in a massively oversized coat out of my head. Each passing day I spent there, I’d notice an increasing number of Dutch girls, biking around effortlessly in coats that swallowed their svelte frames. True, I have my fair share of oversized coats, but one that’s big enough for three and could be mistaken altogether for a bathrobe? I needed one of those.
After weeks of Googling and relentlessly searching shops, I spotted one at H&M. Almost knocking over a girl on my way to the register, I finally purchased my precious kimono/bathrobe and did a victory dance on the way home. And what better way to showcase my new acquisition than by going for a full PJ look, complete with a slip dress underneath? My boyfriend uttered the word “bathrobe” and the angels sung songs of glory.
