Harvest Kitchen

I love discovering new restaurants in Toronto in the summer. The weather is actually conducive to exploring the city, as opposed to its usual state of being conducive to frostbite. Having gone to U of T for my undergrad, I’m embarrassed to admit I’d never bothered venturing out to Harbord Village, a shocking fact considering the amount of hours I spent at Robarts Library and Harbord Village being situated quite literally behind it…

That being said, let’s leave the past in the past and move on to the main point behind this post- Harvest Kitchen! Harvest Kitchen is a brunch spot Taaseen and I stumbled upon on his last weekend in Toronto. It was a glorious day with open patios on every street corner and hungry brunchers chatting animatedly over eggs and mimosas. We arrived at Harvest Kitchen, and were seated on the patio immediately, with prime view for people watching.

With it growing increasingly late, and us growing exponentially hangry, we were rather quick to order.

After a long anticipated wait, during which all we could talk about was food, our brunch arrived.

French Fry Eggs Benedict for Taaseen. A dish which combines two of the most wonderful foods into one sinfully flavourful brunch dish.

In an attempt to be healthy, I ordered the humbler (but nonetheless delicious) Power Breakfast.

Eggs, sunny side up, served with twice baked pico de gallo beans, guacamole, and fried tofu.

I will admit, however, that I snuck several bites from Taaseen’s dish. I mean, eggs benny and french fries! Who can resist?

We finished with the Baked Niagara French Toast.

Challah bread stuffed with blueberries, peach and cream cheese, topped off with berry compote. Completely decadent.

Everything you could ask for from a brunch. We lapped up the sunshine for a while longer before heading down to Bloor Street for a little shopping. I highly recommend Harvest Kitchen even without the sunshine, there are a number of cute little tables inside, not the mention the food is phenomenal!

That brunch looks fabulous! I love Eggs Benedict. Hope to visit Toronto soon – I’m the Design Director for Zardozi Magazine (not sure if you’ve heard of it), for South Asian women and it’s based out of Toronto. So maybe I will check this place out when I go! Thanks for the recommendation πŸ™‚
