Wish

Wish

Perhaps it’s a little cruel to the B word when it’s only Tuesday and the weekend seems as distant as The Shire amidst a battle in the depths of Mordor, but you’ll be all over this one. I can feel it.

After having brunched around Queen Street for the past few weeks, I thought it was time to pay my forgotten friend Yorkville a little visit. For those of you who are not Toronto natives, Yorkville is the Avenue Montaigne of Toronto, lined with luxury stores and laden with women dressed in the latest fresh off the runway trends. As much as I love to visit the area for the occasional shopping trip or people watching, I find the restaurant scene to be limited in comparison to other neighbourhoods.

Although Wish is located on Charles Street which doesn’t technically qualify as Yorkville, it’s close enough, primarily because it gives the neighbourhood a cool and youthful breath of fresh air.

So let’s get down to the crux of the matter – #WIA (What I Ate, it’ll catch on, I promise).

In predictable fashion, I ordered Eggs Charlotte. Smoked salmon and poached eggs topped with a parmesan fondue delicious enough to bathe in.

Nish got the Chicken Hash which was on special. He said he liked my dish better, but when presented with a side of parmesan fondue, he was a happy camper.

On a side note, I caught the couple beside us ordering the Eggs in Purgatory and had to resist the urge to snap a picture (for fear of being thrown out). It looked DIVINE.

And what’s a meal without a sweet ending? Behold, the Grilled Nutella Sandwich in all it’s glory. Crispy challah bread oozing with Nutella. This is the stuff you dream of guys.

If you’re in Yorkville and looking for a laid-back spot for a bite, Wish is the way to go.

PS- order a second round of the Grilled Nutella Sandwich, you’ll thank me later.
