New York Travel Diary

DSC_2440

The first time I visited New York was with my parents, and I hated it. It involved hanging around Times Square that of course alludes to being pushed and shoved around, and a tour around the city. I thought New York was filthy and crowded, and wanted to have nothing to do with it. 3 years later, I agreed to go back to New York to visit my best friend who was attending NYU. It was during that trip that I truly understood why people dream of moving to New York, and have fallen in love with the city several times over since.

This was my first trip with a large group of friends, which made it one of the most memorable three days of my life. I also had several New Yorkers showing me around the city which basically meant three days of fun, food, and laughter. So without further ado, here are my recommendations: vegan lunch at By Chloe for the best avocado toast you’ll ever eat; Jack’s Wife Freda for brunch; Freeman’s alley to see how magical New York really is; exploring the Lower East Side; life-changing ricotta pancakes from the NOMO SOHO; truffle fries from Dudley’s (guys, you can die happy after eating these); salted caramel cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcake (I don’t care what people say, I can’t leave New York without eating these; Grom for gelato that’ll transport you to Italy; almost falling off the rocks at Central Park; getting both the burger AND the lobster roll at Burger and Lobster; wandering up 5th Avenue; finding a little piece of Europe in North America at St. Patrick’s Cathedral; Chalait for the most Instagrammable matcha latte you’ll ever see; ABC Kitchen for pizza to die for; Press Lounge for a view that’ll have you planning a move to New York.

I wish I’d had enough time to go to The Top of The Rock again, but I suppose it gives me an excuse to visit again (as if I needed one). As always, I’d love recommendations for the next time I visit, so leave your comments below!

Firstly, so jealous you live in NY! Thankfully I live close enough to visit now and then, but living there would be ideal. You’ll have plenty of time to get to the places I visited, although I recommend you go to Dudleys for the truffle fries STAT! xo

It looks like you had a great time your second go around in NY! I’m so glad you gave it a second chance, I’ve never been but I hear that it’s such a magically amazing city to visit if you can look past all the hustle and bustle!

Loving all of your photos! Bright and colorful. I would recommend making them all the same size if you’re able since then the photos flow like a picture diary. I have never been to New York (at least not when I was old enough to remember) so I hope to have a business trip out there sometime soon! xx, adaatude.com
