Sweater: Aritzia; Skirt: Zara (similar); Boots: Vagabond

One of the downsides to living in The Great North known as Canada is when, much to the chagrin of utopianism, it becomes an inevitable truth that Winter is Coming. We may choose to ignore the fact by wearing skirts with our sweaters and leather jackets with our cutoffs, but halfway through November, it’s time to put on our pants and accept the fact that summer has left us and is not coming back goddamnit. After allowing the feeling of acceptance to wash over you, my suggestion is to stock up on turtlenecks. Now I’m not just saying this because my choice in fashion is more often than not, Granny Chic. I’m saying this because whatever your style may be, the turtleneck is your answer. It’s appropriate for any occasion, including a date despite what studies may report (if he doesn’t like you for you, screw him), and is also practical. Going on a date? Put on a skirt underneath. Job interview, well layer it under a coat! And if you are getting the feeling that turtlenecks are this season’s culottes, you are, in fact, correct. Stay tuned for an ode to turtlenecks.
