In the past, I’ve spoken candidly about weight loss and how Pilates helped me lose the atrocious freshman undergrad 30 I gained. So why not speak candidly about the other side of things? Before starting my job at Elle, I was a freelance writer, which meant I had the freedom to manoeuvre my schedule however I wanted. I could go to the gym during times which were most convenient for me, and take time to cook for myself. However, since I started working, I feel like there simply aren’t enough hours in the day. I feel like I have two full time jobs, one at Elle, and the other managing my commitments to my blog which is a gargantuan on its own.

So I ask you, how the hell does one pour 13 hours of their day into their work, have time to unwind in order to retain their sanity, AND go to the gym? As much as I’d like to be one of those people who hop out of bed merrily at 5:45am to go to the gym every day, I’m not. Instead, I’ve been barely making it to the gym 3 times a week and seeing the effects on my body. Yesterday, I decided I’d had enough, and committed to working out at least 4 times a week. Hopefully, I’ll be back in shape in no time and once again, see the indentation on my arm I once used to call a muscle. If you have any tips, let me know, as I’d love to hear how all of you juggle your life and staying fit!

Try HIIT or plyometric workouts. If done right even 30 mins make a huge difference.

You’re so right, in terms of cardio, nothing is as effective as HIIT! xo

I totally hear you about juggling commitments and finding time to work out! I was doing Blogilates every morning for about 30 minutes and found it so helpful, especially since I saved time working out from home. That being said, I fell off the wagon after my trip to LA and haven’t got back on since. Time for me to re-commit as well!

I was a Blogilates devotee too, but after doing it for 2 years, I just needed a change. I’m still trying to find a time I can commit to consistently, so I’m trying to mark down specific days that I force myself to go no matter what. Hopefully we can both stay motivated! xo

I know exactly what you mean! I’m no one to talk about being organized lol, but I think that’s the key! Committing to the gym, say, Thursdays after work or whatever and blogging on the weekends! Life is busy but if you’re doing what you love, then busy is good! 😉

    Love,

I completely agree with you. It’s not exactly about time management, as much as it is about fighting mental exhaustion. So happy to say that my legs officially feel like jelly after a particularly intense gym sesh today 🙂 xo

I’m like a working out addict!! I need to go for a run around every 2 days and feel so much better after that. If I don’t have enough time to run, I’m doing some exercice at home (for instance, the 5 minutes workout videos on women health mag online). It’s not a lot but I think it’s better than nothing, and ease my conscience! But anyway you feel beautiful!!! Love your coat! Happy Sunday x

Oh Violette, it’s my dream to become a runner, but I have a stamina of a 60 year old woman, so every time I try I feel like I’m dying lol! I actually did finish my workout today with a 5 minute run, so taking baby steps. The 5 minute video thing is a great idea though! xo

Aww you should try Blogilates HIIT workouts.. they are quick and really get you worked out! It is alos best to work out in the morning (If you can).. If not I used to work out as soon as I cam home from work (literally not stopping to do anything else).. Because I knew if I checked my phone/laptop/the tv.. I would be distracted and get lazy. Also.. diet is SUCH a huge part of keeping fit, so make sure you eat every 2-3 hours (small meals/snacks), drink plenty of water and green tea.. seriously green tea is a GODSEND.
Btw.. you look beautiful (as per usual) 🙂
