Sweater: Oak + Fort; Pants: Club Monaco; Sneakers: Adidas
From all white to all black, as you can see I’m a fan of monochrome dressing. So today I have some very exciting news to share with you, despite the colour palette of my outfit and my less than enthused expression in the pictures. I’d been wanting to move on from a wordpress hosted website to a self-hosted domain name for quite some time now, and am happy to announce that I finally took the leap and did it! I’m currently working on building the website, which I’m aiming to launch in the new year. There is however a problem. I created the name icingandglitter when I was in a very different place in my life, and as I’ve evolved, both personally and sartorially, I feel like the name is no longer an accurate representation of my identity. Whenever I meet people, they’re quite surprised to hear that my blog name, mine, the girl clad in various shades of grey, is icingandglitter. However, since I’ve not yet been able to think of an alternative name, I decided to keep it as it is for now. In the event I do rebrand, do you have any suggestions for names?

Ah this is crazy. I’ve been going through the same problem trying to figure out if my blog name is really the way I want to define me and what I’m doing. I think we all grow and branch out, so it’s so hard finding a brand name that you can stick with forever. To be honest, now that I think about it, icingandglitter is so cute considering that you’re all monochrome – almost like a sarcastic lil cute nickname. Just grew to love it x10 more. Whatever you decide I’m sure it’s going to be amazing. Can’t wait to see it girl!

Your comment totally made my day, and is such a smart way of thinking about it. I think with blogs it’s always tricky unless you go with an eponymous title. Thing is I think most people evolve over time, and so with a name that’s not your own, we all have doubts about whether it represents us. I personally think Beauty Rewritten is a great neutral name, so whether you keep it or change it, it’s perfect. But most importantly, it’s great that we’re both trying our best to produce great content, because after all, what’s in a name? xo

I’m still totally on the fence about the name. On one hand, I feel like it’s not an accurate representation of my brand any more, but on the other, I’ve branded myself that way and don’t want to confuse my readers. It’s such a difficult decision! So for now, I’m just focusing on the web design aspect. I think the name will come to me organically, which is why I love getting all of your opinion on it! xo

I think you should totally rebrand if you’re not feeling it, though I’m terrible at blog names and wouldn’t be able to help you out. When coming up with titles for posts, I tend to just think about it, and then the name pops into my mind at some point – terrible advice, but it works for me.
