Last Friday, I kicked off my vacation by attending the Alex and Ani store opening in Toronto’s Yorkdale mall. I arrived to a standalone store with jewelry as far as the eye could see and an entire table dedicated to hot chocolate and cookies. Now I don’t know about you, but hot chocolate and cookies are my idea of a successful event. The best part of the opening, however, was that it was a charity shopping event – 15% of sales were donated to the MLSE foundation as a part of Alex and Ani’s efforts to make a positive contribution to the world. So basically a store opening where you could eat, shop, and do good all at once, if that isn’t a reason to justify jewelry hoarding, I don’t know what is.
My favourite piece was the celestial charm bracelet. Although I’m not a believer of living each day according to the predictions of an astrologer, I’m a proud Leo through and through. The celestial charms were just so beautiful and luxurious looking that I completely fell in love with them.

Mmm. Hot chocolate. You know surprisingly, one of the best hot chocolates ever is IHOP’s. Alex + Ani does have lovely celestial pieces. I hear the story of their growth as a company is fascinating too. Merry Xmas!
