First of all, I’d like to thank you all for your words of love and support on my last blog post, I was so touched! Today’s post is a little different, it’s about this delicious lunch at Cluny Bistro.
Cluny Bistro is a French restaurant that opened up in Toronto’s Distillery District a little while ago, and I had been dying to check it out. Luckily my wish came true when I was invited to an Instameet being organized there during Winterlicious! Surprisingly enough this was my first big Instameet in Toronto, but I couldn’t have been more thrilled to spend my afternoon with 7 wonderful girls.
As soon as we entered, we were promptly escorted to a separate (well lit) room just for us. We were greeted with pastry towers on the house which we gorged ourselves with while deciding on what to order.
In the end, we decided to all go for the Winterlicious menu.
The pear and goat cheese salad.
Truffle mash for me. It was sweeter than I expected, but the crostini balanced everything out nicely.
Tuna Tartar, which was absolutely delicious.
And the Steak Tartar, which I just did not have the nerve to try. Sure, I can deal with the raw beef, but with raw egg? I couldn’t bring myself to take the plunge.
Considering this was an Instameet, there was standing on chairs involved, which thankfully, normal customers did not witness on account of us having our own room.
Next came the mains.
I got the chilli marinated prawns with steel cut grits.
Quite honestly guys, this was absolutely delicious. I was actually quite surprised that a French restaurant had a dish like this – it was aromatic and bursting with flavour.
The baked French duck cassoulet which I heard was delicious as well.
Then came time for dessert which was pretty ridiculous considering we’d had a pastry tower before we’d even ordered our appetizers.
The profiteroles, which, as I’m sure you can judge from the picture, was delicious.
The chocolate macaron with berry sorbet. The tart sorbet offset the dark chocolate perfectly.
For those of you who have not yet been to Cluny, definitely give it a shot. The food is delicious and we received some of the best service we could hope for. And if you go, I highly recommend the almond croissant – wow!

I’ve been here twice now and the service has been wonderful both times. The food is delicious, especially the desserts. The passion fruit soufflé is unreal. I love the ambiance and pretty much everything about Cluny. I’ll definitely return.
