If you’ve been watching the different fashion weeks, one thing becomes apparent immediately: minimalism is dead. Restrained, utilitarian style clothing has been replaced by sparkles, frills, and colour on seemingly all the runways. As I watch models strut down the Gucci runway clad in head to toe sequins, am I tempted to wear coloured tights and a flower on my collar? HELL YES. I mean, they look fabulous in all their maximalist, granny-chic glory and I want to be part of it, dammit. But at the same time, I know that I’ve finally found my style – I love my minimal, fuss free aesthetic, because I feel like it accurately represents my personality. So amidst being bombarded with beautiful and bold imagery from fashion week, I’m trying to find a way to incorporate the various trends I love, while staying true to my personal style, a happy medium if you will.

I love your minimalistic style! And that olive hacket rocks on you hun 💚
I adore models clad in frills/ laces etc but I know I won’t wear them because I couldn’t be bothered to restrict my movements and take dainty steps in those clothes.. Perhaps they’ll remain as eye candies and not practical for wearing out on a daily basis I think 😹😹 aniwaes, thanks so much for sharing your opinions here, enjoy your weekend 💕

You know, I’m alot more like you in that sense. Am I tempted to see how the looks on the runways would look on me? Yes. But there’s alot to take in count when thinking about stuff like that. I mean, as a really short and not at all skinny girl, half of those would look idiotic. Then, I’m minimalist myself. I love simple looks with simple items than make me feel simple, yet comfortable and completely gorgeous.

I’m in love with the whole outfit. That jacket and those pants! WANT THEM.

I think it’s all about staying true to your style and incorporating trends to stay current. I’m currently really loving the choker trend, so I’m trying to find a simple black one that can go easily with the rest of my wardrobe!

Totally agree with you, Siffat. Stay true to your own style and what makes you feel comfortable! I’m the exact same way – sometimes too minimal, I feel. It’s sometimes hard to resist the temptation to go along with what a lot of other people are doing. But the people who follow you, follow for YOUR style.

Hope to continue this convo with you on Sunday!

You know that’s exactly what it is. When you’re over exposed to a certain trend, it’s hard to resist! That’s why I do my best to avoid Zara, otherwise it’s so easy to fall into that trap. Had such a nice time on Sunday!

I was literally just about to say, woah Siffat, this isn’t your typical sleek 2-piece look 🙂 and then when I read your post, the first few paragraphs revealed it all. Ahhhh. I understand what you’re saying, albeit my style veers towards the polar opposite of the style spectrum. I do feel you’ve pulled off a melding of sleek with embellished very successfully here. And that the illusion of being pared down or OTT lies very much in how much one accessorises. After all, the devil’s in the details, yes? xoxo
