Kadbanu

Kadbanu

By now I’m sure you’re familiar with my mantra which goes something along the lines of birthdays are for celebrating, summers are for traveling, and weekends are for brunching. Part of this mantra is a mission I take very seriously – to try every brunch spot in the city. So, in that same breath, if you’re ever in the Dundas West neighbourhood, I have a restaurant for you.

I’d been wanting to try Kadbanu ever since I saw its dreamy marble tables and colourful food on Instagram. I’d never before tried Iranian food, much less for brunch, but being a fan of Middle Eastern food, I knew it would be delicious. Right before I left for Tulum, I gathered my blogger troops in the form of Joelle, Gabriella, and Tara, and headed over to Kadbanu to start our weekend the right way.

After much deliberation and debate over the menu, we ordered. I decided to go with the Khorma Geerdo, which is eggs over dates and walnuts. Quite possibly the most delicious brunch I’ve had in the city, and I am not exaggerating.

Joelle went with the Shakshuka, which is a staple in Middle Eastern restaurants. It’s essentially eggs over tomato sauce – a classic and delicious choice.

The Gorjeh Sibzamehi for Tara, which is eggs over sautéed potatoes and tomatoes.

Gabriella went for a gluten free option in the form of Mirza Ghasemi, which is eggs served on top of garlicky tomatoes and aubergines, a fine choice indeed.

A beautifully balanced, perfectly flavoured meal served on photogenic crockery in the brightest of restaurants – a winning combination, if you ask me.

I’ve heard Kadbanu also serves delicious lunch and dinner during the week, so truly, there’s something for everyone. Just make sure you book in advance so you don’t have to wait!

Yum!!! I need to get back here and have what you ordered! My meal doesn’t look as fabulous as the rest but it was sure was delicious. So happy they were able to accommodate me as well! That is always a bonus.

    Where to next?!

I haven’t tried Middle Eastern food before but all of that looks so incredible! I love eating eggs, prepared in almost every way haha I already love eating eggs with tomato sauce so that second one looks great. Thanks for sharing!

Middle Eastern brunch sounds like something I would love to try!:) To be honest, I can’t even decide which plate is looking better; they must be all so delicious. Why don’t they open a franchise in Montreal, lol?

I live for brunch on weekends. I love a Bloody Mary. The food looks delicious. I have never tried Iranian food so I will to have to check out what my local city has to offer as far as that goes.
