Fat Pasha

Disclaimer: This is not a brunch post for the weak. This is one for the fearless. Those who are willing to throw caution to the wind, forget any and all health advice they have heard, and just eat. Ready? Here goes.

I made my way to Fat Pasha with three very hungry friends in May when it was still a little cold outside. Thank god, because the weight I gained from that singular meal was what kept me warm for the rest of the month. As you can probably judge from the name itself, this restaurant is all about no-nonsense soul food. Really great Jewish soul food.

If you’re wondering what the above dish is, it’s called Shakshouka. Memorize the name, and if it’s ever on a menu, order it. It usually involves eggs in tomato sauce with homemade bread. Fat Pasha, however, did not simply stop there, oh no. There was lamb kofta involved. It was glorious.

There was also Za’atar fried chicken involved. Having been a part of a friends group that comprised mostly of Arabs in college, I’m a huge fan of Middle Eastern flavours, so naturally, any time I see za’atar on a menu, I order whatever it. This fried chicken did not disappoint.

To any of my readers who have children, if you’re struggling to get them to like vegetables, I suggest you make a trip over to this restaurant solely for the Roast Cauliflower. Guys, it was phenomenal.

And for dessert, the chocolate french toast.

If you’re looking for comfort food, the kind that feels like it was made with love, grab your hungriest friends and head over to Fat Pasha. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Oh.My.Goodness. Every single one of these dishes looks amazing and had my mouth watering. I also appreciate that you described the Shakshouka and Za’atar, because sometimes when you see things like this on a menu they don’t describe what’s in it (I guess they assume if you’re eating at their restaurant you’re probably already familiar with the type of food) and this can make it difficult to try new things because you don’t know what you’re gonna get! I will take your advice and try shakshouka if I ever see it on a menu.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!
