Prom

Prom

Dress: Melanie Lyne; Shoes: Stuart Weitzman; Necklace: Jenny Bird

I can’t believe my prom was 7 years ago! I actually still have my dress, and laugh a little when I go back to visit my parents and see it hanging in my closet. My style in high school was the polar opposite of what it is now, and by that I mean that I had none. I wore a pastel yellow and pink floral maxi. Can you imagine? Me in colour? Regardless of what I wore, the most important thing is that I had fun.

When I think of prom styling tips, I think the most important tip is to find a dress that you’re comfortable in. Personally, if I could go back in time, I would also put myself in something more simple, so that I could wear it for years after. Also, back then, I hadn’t come to the realization that not every kind of dress suits every person. Since I have an hourglass figure, I fell in love with this high-low dress from Melanie Lyne. My favourite part would have to be the V-neck and how perfectly it cinches my waist. And the lace trip adds the kind of drama that every prom dress deserves. So, although my prom days are over, it was fun to play dress-up. To my readers who have prom coming up this year, I’ll be living vicariously though you πŸ™‚

We all seem to have those prom dress regrets, haha. I looked like big bird, no joke. My dress was canary yellow with embellishments all over and I made my hubby, then boyfriend, wear a white suit and top hat, he looked like a pimp, lol! We laugh about it now because my style has changed tremendously since then. Though I still love color as I did back then, just in a totally different way, haha. I love the dress you’re wearing here, girlie, it looks wonderful on you! Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you have a great week ahead!

Ugh, I love that dress! So matchy and fierce with the choker too, dramatic and good. Hahah pink and yellow prom dress sounds like something. I made my own prom dress, in golden sequins and it looked okey color wise. But the style of it, terrible haha, kind of unflattering! Yikes.

Have a lovely week babe! Xx

You look stunning in this dress, dear.
I totally agree with you. I think is important to feel comfortable in the dress and to pick a simple one in orfer to still wear it in other ocasions.
    Have a great week.

I love the darker, vampy look of this dress. You look amazing! My prom dress ended up not arriving in time so I had to find one at a thrift store. Looking back it was for the best because the dress I found was way more classic than the one I had ordered, LOL. It’s funny to think of how much our style does change though, and what we’d wear now if we had to go back.

Wow Siffat, you look like a WO!!!!Man, gorge, this dress compliments your figure so much- statuesque hunty!
I so want to see your prom pics, they sound soooo cooote!
I schooled in the UK and we don’t have proms (Thank F, don’t get me started!) but we had a dance at 18 and I bought a killer black gorge slip like (but heavier fabric) dress with a fab low cowl neck and bla bla bla…I wear it from time to time i.e. when my hips are not out of control!
I bought so much crap from that age that I am amazed I got that dress to be honest.
Have a good week hon. X

Lol regarding our old prom dresses…gosh I question my taste back then. =) This dress is stunning and loved it when I saw it on IG too. I love the high low hemline and the lace details are gorgeous. The choker addition is perfect with this look. xoxo, Christine

    Hi Siffat,
This prom dress was made for you. Seriously, you make it look so feminine and sexy. I love it.
I wore a long dress to my prom night, it was not very flattering. I was 15 kilos heavier and wanted to hide my body. It definitely was not pretty and no one wanted to dance with me. I am laughing at it as it was 20 years ago and I am a different person now. But yes, prom night is a big deal for an 18-year-old. πŸ™‚
    Hugs,
    Miri

Isn’t it crazy prom was so long ago now? I only wish I’d had a dress as lovely as this gorgeous one to wear to mine. Stunning!

  28. March 2, 2017 / 6:21 am

Oh my goodness, my prom was 10 years ago this year! And I wore a hideous pink strapless ball gown lol. I did not have good taste in high school even though that’s when I started loving fashion. This gown is absolutely stunning!

That is a beautiful little black dress, and like you said it’s a classic one you could wear after prom too! I never wore my formal (what we call prom!) dress after the event, mum ended up giving it away to a friend of a friend who’d been kicked out of home before her formal and so had nothing to wear. It was good it could be passed on! πŸ™‚

Hope you are having a really good week πŸ™‚

This dress is stunning! I love the lace detailing at the bottom. I totally agree with with you about wanting to go back in time and pick a more classic prom dress – I wouldn’t be caught dead in the one I chose for mine!
