Break

Break

Top: Club Monaco; Jeans: Zara (similar here and here); Shoes: Gucci

Between August 2016 to April 2017, I traveled to 12 different cities. Some new, some that I’d visited in the past. Every city gave me a new dose of inspiration, and cultured me a little more. However, I was traveling every month and had to pack my bags for the next trip before I even got a chance to catch my breath. For months, I didn’t really feel the strain that I was putting on my body. I knew I was tired and jet lagged, but I was running on adrenaline.

Then, the inevitable happened. After I got home from Hawaii, I felt my body give up on me. I didn’t have the strength to get out of bed for a day. I was exhausted beyond words, and I think my body just went into shock. That’s when I knew I had to take a break. I knew that if I packed my bags and left for another trip with only a few weeks in between, I would collapse. And frankly speaking, it wouldn’t be fun anymore.

So for the first time in months, I’m spending more than a month at a stretch in Toronto. It’s allowed me to establish a routine, start cooking again, and spend time at home. One of my goals this year was to travel, but I think I pursued it so aggressively that I burnt out. The lesson here is never to push your body beyond its means. We all have goals, but its so important to give your body the love and respect it deserves. And if that means take a break, take a break!

Traveling is fun but I agree with you, you should never push your body too far. Glad to hear that you’re enjoying this break!

I love visiting places but I hate traveling from place to place! Too much trouble! I do agree that is important to follow the signs and to travel when you are ready! If you can do it!

Such a beautiful look! That must have been scary when your body wasn’t working like normal! Definitely the sign of a well deserved break xx

Even if traveling is one of the best things in the world it’s also tiring. So it’s nice to take a break from time to time.
I love to travel but i must admit that i also love my routine at home. I think we have to find the balance we’re comfortable with. The boundaries are different from person to person, but the most important is to don’t push too hard.
    Have a great day dear.

I love travelling too! I mean it makes me feel calm, and let my mind feel at ease. While traveling, there’s a moment when I can just sit back and think about stuff!

I absolutely love those jeans! The acid wash gives off a cool 80s feel, while the fringed hem modernizes it a bit, such a great pair! I agree, it’s so important that we listen to our bodies and rest when it gives us those signs. I’ve been guilty of over working myself too and it always results in me feeling extremely tired and moody as well. Thanks for sharing, girl, and I hope you have a great weekend ahead!

Enjoy your down time lady! I know how tough constant traveling can be – I used to work in sales. It was the time difference that always killed me.

Where did you get your nails done? I love them!

You are so right! I was just talking to somebody today about how important it is to make sure you are actually enjoying yourself when you live a busy, jet-setting, lifestyle. Sometimes we are so focused on achieving our goals that we forget to take care of ourselves first. You are so lucky you got to travel to so many places though – that’s definitely something I hope to do more of as well. I’m glad you have the time to relax this month and take care of yourself. You deserve to feel good after all the work you do girl!!

Yup, yup, I know the feeling dear. I cannot really put my body through that much adrenaline anymore (I am turning a real grandma and not just the hair!), but I have learnt to enjoy my quiet time at home. Cooking, reading, listening to music and being with your special ones (plants also count!)… ah, the little pleasures in life 🙂 Hope you are feeling better after your break, Siffat
