A Personal Update

Okay, so I’ve been keeping some major news from you guys. I’ve been waiting for the right time to share but wanted to make sure everything was finalized first. So here it is: I’m relocating to Europe until the end of the year. I know you may be wondering why, so I wanted to take this opportunity to share the whole story with you.

For the past few months I feel like I’ve been trudging along in Toronto. This city will always be my home and I will always love it, but I’ve stopped feeling excited by it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy here, but do I jump out of bed everyday, propelled by my creative energy? No. I pin this down to the fact that I am someone who feels like adventure and creativity go hand in hand. I’ve lived in Toronto for so long that I feel like I’ve shot at every cafe, restaurant and alleyway. There is nothing new for me to explore, and it’s dampening my spirits.

After months of feeling like I was in desperate need for a change, I weighed out my options. I wasn’t ready to make a blind move to a new city, but at the same time, I wanted a challenge. So after thinking about it for a while and discussing it with my family, I decided to give Europe a shot for a few months. I’ll be splitting my time between Paris and London, two of my favourite cities.

I chose Paris because it’s always been a dream of mine to live there, even if it is for a short period of time. I go there every year, and never feel satiated after only spending a few days there. This will give me the opportunity to experience Paris like an insider while getting to know the brands there. And I chose London because it’s familiar, and I’m extremely fond of it. I went to fashion school there, some of my closest friends live there, and it feels like a second home.

The thing is, I don’t want to look back in life and regret something I didn’t pursue. I don’t ever want to wonder ‘what if?’ Right now, I’m in my 20s, and thankfully, have a job that allows me to be extremely mobile. In fact, traveling allows me to produce content that you guys seem to like more than if I were stationed in one city! Not to mention, I’m at an age where I don’t have any major commitments. I don’t have a family to worry about, I don’t really have anything tying me to one place. So I figured I would take advantage of my situation, and try something that, both, scares and excites me.

I can’t wait to share this adventure with you guys!

Well done, Siffat! Excited for you! Totally feel you. Try living in hideous, boring Ottawa! I was born in London and go back frequently. I’m always so inspired by the energy and cool vibe of that city. And Paris? Well, can you get anymore beautiful (and tasty)?

Thisvpost really hit home. I’m taking the plunge and finally taking a leave of absence from my sh*tyy job to fulfil my own passions. Can’t wait to follow your Europeans adventures! All the best!
