Can you guys believe it’s almost the end of the year?! I know a lot of people tend to get sad at this time of year, but I love the idea of ending and beginning the year on a high note. For my OG readers, you’ll know that I’m not a big fan of resolutions. However, I am a big fan of goals! At the end of every year, I sit down and list my goals for the new year along with clear steps on how I plan to make those goals a reality. I’ll get into my personal goals for 2018 in a different blog post, but today, I wanted to talk about how to create a happier life in the new year.

1. A good planner is key
I don’t know about you guys, but nothing gets me more excited than a great planner. Get a beautiful planner that you’re excited to write in. Store it in plain sight so you can pick it up regularly.

2. Write down your ideal life
What do you envision for yourself? What are your biggest dreams? Whether it’s being a leader in your field, having a great body, whatever it is, write it down. And revisit it because it’s a great to be reminded of your ideal life. It helps bring you back to the path you need to be on to achieve these longterm goals.

3. Figure out the goals to get you there
If part of your ideal life is to excel in your career, think about the micro-goals you need to set in order to achieve that macro-goal. Write down three goals associated to that, and the steps you’ll take to achieve that goal!

4. Think about the things that make you happy
Of course, it’s super important to also live in the present. Write down a list of things that make you happy that you can always revert back to. On a rough day, it’s always nice to look back on the list as a reminder of everything you have going for you.

5. Break out of your comfort zone
While having a routine in life is amazing, it’s also important to break out of your comfort zone. Don’t let fear hold you back. Some of my best experiences this year were a result of me breaking out of my comfort zone. For example, if you guys watch my IG stories, you’ll know that I LOVE to box. Before this year, I was intimidated to try it! Can you believe that? If I hadn’t forced myself out of my comfort zone, I would never have been able to experience the adrenaline I feel at a boxing class!

6. Commit to giving back
You guys know that I’m a huge fan of Tony Robbins. One of the things he preaches is that the secret to living is giving. I don’t think truer words have been spoken. No one becomes poorer from giving back. I donate to a charity of my choice every month, but if you don’t have the financial means, commit to donating your time! Volunteer at a local charity – this is actually one of my personal goals for the new year.

I hope this post inspires you to start the year off on a high note. I’d love to hear what you guys are doing to start the year right!

Have never done a goal road map but sounds really interesting. I tend to lose my focus when things get hectic or energy levels are not great. Volunteering is also on my list for the next year. Happy week ahead beautiful Siffat!
