Here’s a fact you may not know about me: I suffer from chronic stress. It’s something I’ve been actively working on over the last year, but some days are harder than others.

The society we live in glorifies stress. It’s not recognized as enough of a problem, and it’s directly interlinked to the idea that the busier we are, the more successful we are. We’re conditioned to sacrifice on sleep and self-care in order to get ahead. Over the past year or so, I’ve been implementing certain practices to help me deal with stress. So today, I wanted to share with you the one thing that’s helped me most.

Journaling. It may sound simple, but it works. Don’t believe me? Here are some proven benefits of journaling:

  • It generates clarity in your life
  • It allows you to manifest your dreams
  • It clears your emotions
  • It harnesses creativity
  • It makes you more grateful

You guys have heard me talk about my love for the 5 Minute Journal several times, but seriously, it’s helped me cope with some really difficult times. Here’s the thing about journaling – when people told me how transformative it was, I thought it was bullshit. Then I got curious about journaling, but didn’t know where to start. The 5 Minute Journal is a great way to dive into the world of journaling without a huge time commitment. And yes, it is truly transformative.

If you don’t know what the 5 Minute Journal is, it’s a gratitude practice that helps you focus on the positives in your life. You write in it for a few minutes in the morning and a few minutes at night – a small recap of your day, if you will.

Here’s the thing, we are all guilty of sweating the small (or big) stuff. Whether it’s a work crisis or your plate is full of personal issues, these things impact our emotions. Journaling helps bring mental clarity and put things into perspective.

So I want to know whether you keep a journal. If so, have you felt your life improve since you started your journaling practice?

I definitely have to get things down on paper too. It helps me just to stop that voice thinking in my head over and over about whatever it may be!
