The London Hotel Edit: The Bloomsbury

The London Hotel Edit: The Bloomsbury

For those of you who’ve been to London, you may have heard of, or visited Dalloway Terrace. They’re known for the most beautiful seasonal decorations. In fact, you can see what they looked like over Christmas in my Best of London post. Dalloway Terrace is a part of The Bloomsbury, so with this fact in mind, and knowing that The Bloomsbury is part of The Doyle Collection, I knew that I was going to be blown away by the hotel from the get go. And it was clear within the first 5 minutes of checking in that I was not wrong.

I arrived at The Bloomsbury before check-in, after an exhausting journey from Greece. The staff welcomed me as though I were a part of the family. After taking my bags and giving me a mini tour of the hotel, they seated me in their lounge area, which, like the rest of the hotel, is a gorgeous maximalist, deco-modern space. Here I ordered an almond milk cappuccino to bring me back to life, shortly after which I was escorted to my room.

My room echoed the vibe of the rest of the hotel: luxurious, beautifully decorated with great attention to detail. Think plush velvet chairs, oxblood headboards and a mix of different textures.

A skip away from Tottenham Court Road, Soho and all things central London, The Bloomsbury offers its guests glitz, glamour and unforgettable hospitality. The building dates back to the 1920s and was refurbished by The Doyle Collection upon acquisition a few years back. They very successfully paid homage back to the building’s 1920’s heritage with the interior of The Coral Room and The Bloomsbury Club Bar.

Speaking of restaurants, the hotel has 2 – The Coral Room, and Dalloway Terrace, along with The Bloomsbury Club Bar, the in-house bar that takes you back to a Gatsby-esque era. During my stay, I went down to The Coral Room for pre-dinner drinks, and fell in love with the ambiance and mocktail I tried. I hear the cocktails are solid too. But my experience at The Coral Room was merely an aperitif before an extraordinary dinner experience at Dalloway Terrace.

When a restaurant has a jaw dropping interior and buzzy vibe, I always tend to wonder if people are there for the food or Instagram photo opportunity. However, in the case of Dalloway Terrace, people may initially come for the Instagram photo op, but keep coming back for the food. I had a three course meal and tried several dishes to get a wholesome feel of the menu, and was blown away by each and every dish. From the prawns to the risotto, each dish was a perfect mix of flavours and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend paying a visit to Dalloway Terrace for dinner if possible.

The following morning, I went back to Dalloway Terrace for breakfast where my love affair with the establishment continued. I was so impressed by the fact that they offered gluten free toast for people with intolerances. I also tried a bit of their Shakshuka which was phenomenal – I highly recommend you order it if you go. And of course, I snuck in a bite of their pancakes which were fluffy, cloud-like things.

Overall, I could not be more impressed by the hotel. Every detail was impeccable, and most importantly, the staff were kind and hospitable. Needless to say, I will most definitely be returning back to The Bloomsbury.
