5 Reasons to Visit London

5 Reasons to Visit London

Architecturally beautiful, historically impressive, with cafes and restaurants galore, London is a city that one can never tire of. Having been lucky enough to visit this amazing city several times throughout the course of my life, I wanted to dedicate today’s blog post to why you should visit London. Whether you’ve already been there before or have never visited, London should be on your radar. It’s constantly changing and evolving, and every time I go, there’s something new to see and do! So here are 5 top reasons why London should be on your travel bucket list:

1. Wow Air
Thanks to budget airlines like Wow Air, trans-Atlantic travel has really been made a lot simpler for us North Americans. Gone are the days where we’d have to drop a small fortune to get from Toronto to Europe. You can now get round trip tickets for as little as $300 if you keep an eye on deals!

I flew Wow Air from Toronto to London during this trip. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but after my trip, I can say with conviction that I will be using it again. First things first, the price. I mean, who doesn’t want to save while traveling to Europe? That being said, you may be wondering about the quality of the flight itself, so I thought I’d do a little review.

The airline doesn’t have a business class ticket, but if you’d like more room, they do offer XL seats. I had the XL seat for half of my journey and an emergency escape seat for the rest of my journey. The seats are clean and comfortable, but note that they don’t offer any entertainment. So if you’re unable to sleep on the flight, make sure you bring a book or iPad with you to keep you entertained.

Wow Air, like most budget airlines offers nothing with the base price of the ticket. This means that you have to pay to check in luggage. It also means that there is no food or water included with your ticket. So make sure you bring a large water bottle and food with you on the plane.

That being said, the staff are very friendly and energetic. They were ready to help in any way they could and always had a smile on their faces.

Overall, I will definitely use Wow Air to fly to Europe again. It is most definitely worth the savings, you just have to be a little prepared.

2. High Tea
The fact that tea, scones and various pastries are an acceptable meal in England is really quite wonderful. Despite the fact that I’ve been to London more times than I can count, I had my first high tea experience during this trip at The Shangri-La. If you’re going to do High Tea once, let it be at the Shangri-La.

With sweeping views over the city, and a tea and pastry selection to delight the senses, Shangri-La serves up a combination of English class and the impeccable service its so well known for. Right now, the afternoon tea is a botanical themed one to honour the royal wedding. They drew inspiration from the details at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding. The result? A wonderfully English, absolutely scrumptious experience.

3. Impressive Facades
The shops and restaurants in London always have a way of luring one in with their impressive facades. However, these facades become all the more breathtaking during spring, with floral displays galore. Some of my favourite spots are Liberty London, Moyses Stevens, and The Ivy Chelsea Garden. Another great time to go is during the holidays. London gives a new meaning to holiday displays.

4. Cute Cafes
When it comes to Insta-worthy cafes, London is second to none.

Honestly, there are far too many for me to name, but some of the most beautifully decorated cafes are Peggy Porschen Cake, Saint Aymes (which offers a 24 karat gold drink menu), and Aubaine at Selfridges.

5. Rich History
I hardly need to tell you how much there is to see in London. The city is brimming with history, and is so architecturally stunning. Every time I go, I feel like I’ve walked into a story book.

The History is what always gets me. Such an interesting city full of stories! Also, they sure have gone and upped the game with facades these days. So many flower filled windows! Plus high tea. No better scones than in good old England.

I would love visiting London. These are wonderful reasons you mentioned. I even read it in a magazine by countrywide periodicals and I was fascinated by reading all about London. And next year, I would be there.
