The London Hotel Edit: CitizenM Tower of London

When I think of hotels from the sleek, futuristic, Jetsen’s age, I think of CitizenM Tower of London. From checking-in to the ‘mood pad’ in each room that controls temperature, light switch, blinds, and alarm clock, everything is digital. The hotel, unlike so many others in the city, does not market itself as luxury. Instead, it sets itself apart by being funky, accessible, and cool. Perfect for a traveler who’s looking for a central base while exploring the city.

Located right on top of Tower Hill Station with a direct view of, you guessed it, the Tower of London, CitizenM is incredibly central. It’s a 10 minute walk from Brick Lane and Spitalfield Market, and the tube makes it easy to access the rest of London.

The rooms are all the same. Compact with an extremely comfortable king-sized bed, comfortable bedding and as mentioned, a tablet to control functionalities of the room. The bathroom is small, but includes all the amenities one needs. The rest of the hotel feels more like an art collector’s home than a hotel. The lobby features contemporary art, coffee table books galore, and lots of open space to meet with friends or use as a work space.

The in-house restaurant can be found on the ground floor. More like a self-serve canteen than a restaurant, it is consistent with the rest of the hotel’s contemporary-cool theme. It has snacks available all day, and an impressive breakfast spread. I love hotels that are sensitive to their guests’ dietary restrictions and offer options. I found it very easy to eat well at CitizenM as they had lots of gluten-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free options. Not to mention, everything was delicious. They truly know their clientele and do everything to cater to them.

Overall, CitizenM is a hotel for the modern millennial. Would I come back? In a heartbeat.
