Hello from New York! I’m in the city for a 3 day work trip, which has so far been a blur of podcast interviews, shoots and meetings. Since it’s a short trip, it’s jam-packed. So I wanted to keep today’s post quick and efficient. I wanted to share my 3 favourite ways to be efficient while traveling for work.
Anyone who travels for work knows that days are packed TIGHT. There always seem to be a million things to do, so my trick is to make use of your time efficiently. Here are my top 3 tips:
1. Work In Traffic
Being stuck in traffic sucks. But silver linings – you can totally use that time to bang out any work you have. I love taking Lyfts around the city because I just use the time to answer emails, answer DMs and comments on Instagram, or take calls. I don’t care if I’m stuck in traffic because I’m working on the go.
2. Schedule Meetings During Meals
One of the things I love about traveling for work is getting face time with brands I work with. I like to optimize my meal times by scheduling lunch and dinner meetings. I find they’re more intimate and allow me to get to really connect with the brand reps I work with. This way I get to tick meetings off my list while having company during meals.
3. Skip The Movie
On the plane, I mean. Sure, if you’re taking the red eye, you might want to take it easy. But if you’re on the plane for a few hours and are well-rested, use the time to focus on work that doesn’t need the internet. I always use my time on airplanes to write a blog post or edit pictures/videos. I find that I never get distracted because I don’t have wifi, so I’m not pausing in the middle to answer an email or check Instagram.
What are your tricks to be efficient while traveling?
