Matcha Magic + My Superfood Matcha Latte Recipe

If you’re from/have visited a cafe-heavy city, and haven’t tried a matcha latte, what have you been doing? I remember my first experience with matcha. It was slightly traumatic. I went to this super cute cafe in Toronto, ordered a matcha latte, and it tasted like grass. Literal grass. It was so gross that I had to muster up all my courage to try it again 6 months later (I was still experiencing PTSD) at a Japanese cafe. The second time around, I got a taste of what matcha was actually supposed to taste like: delicious.

So what is matcha? If you’re not familiar with this green drink that’s seemingly all over Instagram, I want to break it down for you. Matcha is literally powdered green tea from Japan. Matcha from Japan is a ceremonial-grade powdered green tea, which is the best of the best. It’s full of antioxidants, Vitamin C, and the caffeine it contains doesn’t make you as jittery as coffee. So, in summary, it’s something you should incorporate into your diet as it offers immense health benefits.

You guys know me, I love anything homemade, and this includes matcha. While you can get a matcha latte in most cafes around the city now, I like to elevate my matcha with adaptogens and superfoods. And obviously, when I have a recipe that is equal parts delicious and healthy, I have to share it with my friends, AKA you guys. The matcha I use in this recipe is from Organic Traditions. I like it because it’s slightly flavoured and contains 1 billion probiotics, which is essential for gut health.

Matcha Superfood Latte Recipe

  • 1 tbsp Organic Traditions Matcha Vanilla Mix
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste
  • 1 tsp coconut butter
  • 1/2 tsp ashwaganda
  • 1 tsp Beekeeper’s Naturals BeePowered honey
  • 1 scoop collagen powder

Instructions:
In a mug, mix a tiny bit of hot water with the matcha. Once it’s all dissolved, pour it into a blender with the rest of the ingredients and 1 cup of hot water and blend.

That’s it – simple and delicious, just the way I like it!

Do you guys love matcha as much as I do? And if you like making homemade elixirs like this one, check out my recipe for mushroom-infused hot chocolate and bulletproof coffee.
