The Morning Ritual That’ll Jumpstart Your System

Wellness can be expensive. Colonics, deep tissue massage, MCT oil, organic kale… the list goes on. But you know what? Not every part of wellness is or needs to be. For approximately $10 every 3 months, you can actually do your system one of the biggest favours by drinking apple cider vinegar, lemon and water every morning.

First things first, let’s talk about hydration, k? Water is free. It’s abundantly available. Hydration is one of the most important wellness hacks and not enough people do it. What is the point of rushing to get a $300 serum when you haven’t done the most basic thing for your body: drink enough water?! Hydration does wonders for our entire system, from our skin to our internal organs. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been waking up and drinking a big bottle of water to recover from the dehydration that happens while we sleep. It’s one of the best and simplest wellness habits you can do for yourself.

If you want to level up from here and really jumpstart your system, mix 1 tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar and the juice of 1/2 a lemon into a huge mug of water first thing in the morning. So what exactly are the benefits, you may be wondering. Well first, let’s talk about ACV.

So the thing with ACV is there’s a ton of garbage on the market. You want to make sure that your apple cider vinegar is raw and unfiltered. And the reason is because organic, raw, unfiltered ACV contains the ‘mother’ which is a sediment rich in gut-friendly bacteria and enzymes. It’s the ‘mother’ that is responsible for most of the benefits you hear about in ACV. It’s also what gives ACV the cloudy-ish look. My preferred brand is Braggs.

In terms of benefits, here are a few:

  • kills pathogens and bacteria – it’s a great immune booster
  • improves insulin sensitivity and lowers blood sugar
  • according to this study, it helped with weight loss
  • it has detoxifying properties

Not bad for a $6 bottle that’ll last you for 3 months.

Okay now let’s talk about lemons, shall we?

  • lemons are high in Vitamin C, which helps boost the immune system and protects cells from free radicals
  • the polyphenols found in lemons reduce weight gain and aid the digestive system
  • helps maintain pH level of the body
  • rich in anti-inflammatory agents

See? Proof that wellness doesn’t always have to be expensive.
