Since today is my birthday and I’m another year older (but probably not much wiser), I decided to look through pictures from my last birthday. It’s funny how much personal style evolves through time, but this is the first time I’ve actually looked through old pictures and felt like my look has really matured. Although I’ve yet to define my exact personal style, I feel like I’m getting closer to it everyday. However, most importantly, over the past year, I feel like I’ve learned to dress for myself.

Throughout the different stages of school, I’ve always found that people are pressured to dress to the confines of their social circles. Post-graduation is entirely a different ball game. Of course there’s the confused stage right at the beginning when you’re not quite ready to let go of the ghost of the bandage dress wearing party girl you once were in college, but afterwards things just sort of get easier. You start to willingly throw out your cheap t-shirts and frat party themed (too short) dresses. It took me two years, but I feel like I’m finally getting to that point, so here’s to another year of getting one step closer to finding who I am, both stylistically and beyond.
