Touching back on my last post about nightwear as daywear and unisex clothing, I wanted to discuss an overarching issue which I’ve noticed in fashion as of late – the loss of sex appeal. Lately designers seem to be putting looser, bigger, more gender fluid clothing on the runway, and I’m not just talking about Rick Owens. Take for example Valentino, who put robes fit for a pope on the fall runway, or even The Row, a brand that’s become synonymous to grandma chic with a modern edge. Personally, I’m not complaining. I’ve become comfortable enough in my own skin to not dress to impress men, and like that fashion encourages women to dress how they please. I like loose dresses and boyfriend jeans, but how do you feel about the trend? Do you notice the prevalence of looser, longer clothing?

I think your attitude can make a look sexy if you want it to be whether you’re wearing a potato sack or a bikini or a pope’s robe haha! You definitely have a fabulous look in this loose fitting dress that oozes a gorgeous attitude girl 🙂

I actually have noticed the decrease of tight fitting, skin showing outfits, and personally, I’m completely fine with it. I generally gravitate towards looser fitting clothes, anyway, so the bounce of them back into the fashion industry is something I do appreciate.

You look gorgeous, Siffat! Everything about this look is perfection! I kind of like the trend, only because I feel it gives more options to a broader range of women. You have the option to change the shape easily by wearing a belt of various sizes and placing it wherever flatters your body best. But, I totally get what you’re saying, too! I would add SOME of these pieces in my wardrobe, they wouldn’t be an every day staple for me year long.

I hope you have an amazing day and weekend, beautiful!

I really like that women no longer have to dress to impress men if they don’t want to, it’s nice to have options. I feel like it’s fashion’s nod in the feminist direction 🙂 xo

I actually did not notice this trend on the runways, but I must say that I do like looser clothing as well. Especially when the dresses come with pockets like your beautiful look. Happy Friday!

Thanks Cheryl! Well there’s always the regular roster of designers who lean more towards minimalist clothing – The Row, Rick Owens, Public School; but for F/W 15, I noticed pieces in Valentino and Narcisso Rodriguez as well which I thought was such an interesting and unexpected shift! Not to say that they’ve moved away from their gorgeous gowns completely, but there were pieces in there which weren’t quite as feminine as you’d expect from those designers. xo
