Origin

Taking a break from sharing my Fashion Week outfits with you, I thought instead, I’d share with you what I ate on the weekend it was all over. After quite possibly the longest week of my life, I slept at 9pm on Friday night, and woke up on Saturday with nothing more than the desire to stuff my face. So I gathered the troops and headed to Origin for brunch.

Since there was a number of us, I knew it would be an opportunity to get pictures of essentially the whole menu, and I was right. So let’s get right into it.

Tostada Ranchero. I didn’t order this, but from what I heard, it was excellent. The only problem was it was a little small, so the boys were tempted to order a second round… but we’ll get to that later.

The egg white omelette. Now I’m not entirely sure why it is that this was my skinny guy friend’s breakfast and not mine on account of the calorie counting, but for some reason, he decided to go the low carb route while I inhaled a hefty Roast Duck French Toast.

Unfortunately, between yelling at my friends to NOT TOUCH THEIR FOOD, and getting the lighting right, I forgot to take a picture of my own meal, which was undoubtedly the showstopper. On the bright side, you can see it in the above picture. The duck was cooked to perfection and went really nicely with the french toast. I did however, ask for a side of maple syrup to give it a sweet and savoury sort of kick.

However, we weren’t yet satisfied. There was really no choice but to order potatoes and scones.

The scones were delicious. Soft and crumbly, and just the right amount of sweetness.

Unfortunately I didn’t really try the potatoes since I don’t eat bacon, but from the lovelorn expressions on everyone’s faces, it was a highlight.

Afterwards, I rubbed my belly and gently settled into a food coma from which I awoke 4 hours later (no joke). It was the perfect way to celebrate the end of a long week. A note to anyone who decides to pay Origin a visit, this place is one of the few that do take a reservation, and I highly suggest you take advantage of that because they’re quite busy on the weekends. Happy weekend!
