Rose and Sons

Fall weekends are made for playing with leaves and eating, both of which I successfully did a few weekends ago before it got so grey. After an early night (which I seem to be enjoying a little too often considering the fact that I’m 24), I woke up bright and early, ready to conquer the day… but not without brunch. We made our way over to Rose & Sons, a Dupont joint which I’d heard far too much about to ignore. As soon as I walked into the cozy diner, I was greeted with the smell of various brunch staples, which is the best kind of greeting. The menu is composed of comfort food fit for a (down to earth) king.

The Fried Chicken and Short Stack is as sinful as you might hope.

Now I’m not sure what they do to their pancakes. Perhaps they infuse it with drugs, but they are fluffy, cloud-like things from one’s brunch fantasies. Topped off with fried chicken, maple syrup, sour cherries, and cream. You do the math.

The Griddled Brie Cornbread. Soft and juicy brisket sandwiched between two slices of homemade cornbread and topped off with an egg. Delicious.

To finish, bread pudding with wild blueberries. Soft, moist, and the perfect sweet ending to a great meal.

If you’re in the mood for a fancy brunch, Rose & Sons isn’t for you. However, you’re more in the mood for a cozy joint that serves food with big flavour, I could not recommend Rose & Sons more. But, make sure you get there early, because it does fill up fast!
