The Art of Basics

The Art of Basics

Jeans: Fidelity (similar here and here); Sweater: Zara (similar here and here); Dress: Banana Republic (similar here and here); Shoes: Zara (similar here and here)

Although I define my style as minimal, I’ve been taking some liberties with my outfits. Instead of committing to clean silhouettes, I’ve been playing with layers, textures, and dare I say, prints. As a blogger, part of my job is to inspire you guys with different looks. I find that the best way is to do this isn’t to go to Zara every day, but rather, play around with what I already own. If you’re looking to curate a versatile wardrobe, focus on great basics. Once you have a wardrobe full of timeless basics, you can add to it with one-season, trendy pieces.

The great thing about basics, is that you can mix and match them endlessly. On this particular day, I was going through a ‘I don’t know what to wear’ moment, when I decided to layer a little white dress under my favourite knit and pair it with jeans. I was so surprised that I hadn’t tried this combination, because I fell in love with it. I chose to finish my outfit with statement metallic shoes, because it really gave it the special finishing touch it needed.

Bottom line: basics never go out of style, they’re the key to a great wardrobe.

I love basics and I always try to invest in some great classic pieces that I can wear season after season.
I love that you layered this look with a dress! Have to try that!

What a great layered look, girlie! I love the sweater, which looks so cozy, and those boots are everything! You know, I honestly admire those who are creative with old pieces in their wardrobe than those who constantly buy because it shows one’s talent and ability to create something new with something old. I feel anybody can create an outfit with a new piece. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great weekend ahead!

Ahh, I have been thinking about this lately Siffat, how to make a better use of what I already own to avoid hitting the stores every week. Love the way you layered all these pieces (which are super cute on their own as well!) to create a more casual look with a great finishing metallic touch β™₯ Hope you have a great Sunday and week, girl

I love chunky knit sweaters. Although it’s like 90F outside as I’m writing this, haha.
