3 Tricks To Make Your Perfume Last Longer

Do you remember when you got your first perfume? It was such a big deal for me. I was 13 years old, and my parents bought be J’adore by Dior. It was probably because my parents were sick of me using their perfumes (yep, I used my dad’s colognes too LOL). Ever sine then, I’ve been obsessed with perfumes. I had a signature scent every year of high school – one year it was D&G Light Blue, another year it was Lancome Hypnose. Scent is just such a big thing.

The perfume I’ve had on repeat for the last few months is Black Opium by YSL. There’s something about it, it’s just such a beautiful smell. I also feel like it’s perfect for the winter time since it has deeper nodes. So New Year’s Eve is around the corner, which means most of you guys will be going out (I’ll be celebrating in my PJs, most likely with my superfood hot chocolate in hand, in bed at approximately 12:01am, but that’s just me). Point is, if you’re going out, you obviously want your perfume to last, and I have a few tricks up my sleeve which I wanted to share:

1. Moisturize with oil
Okay, so I’ve been on a major body oil kick lately. You can use any kind of body oil you want, just use it right after you get out the shower. Oil makes perfume last longer, so this is a super easy tip to keep you smelling amazing all night long.

2. Storage is key
I once went to an Atelier Cologne event where one of the brand reps told me that they keep all their perfumes in the fridge. It made me seriously consider getting a small fridge specifically for my perfumes. So here’s the deal: perfumes need to be stored in cool, dry places, or they fade. This means, keep it away from the sun and your bathroom. Your bathroom tends to be warm and moist, which is a less than ideal storage condition for perfumes. Instead, put your perfumes on a cute tray and integrate it into your home decor, or better yet, stick them into the fridge.

3. Don’t rub your wrists together
Who came up with the myth of rubbing your wrists together after spraying perfume? Seriously, WHO? Because it’s total bullshit. Rubbing your wrists together after spraying perfume actually makes the smell disappear faster. When you spray perfume on your wrists, just let it dry naturally and be on your way!

I knew about moisturizing but storing it in the fridge is a new tip I would try!

Oh I really should move mine into a shadowy spot. They are not in direct sun but in a light spot, which I always think isn’t ideal. Thank you for the tips!
