If you’re on Instagram, you’re no stranger to seeing LiketoKnow. It tagged in your favourite content creator’s picture. While some of you may know what it is, I wanted to do a blog post explaining wtf Liketoknow.it is, what it means for content creators, and what is means for you – our community.

WTF LTK and Why Do I Keep Seeing It Everywhere?

If I were paid a dollar for every time someone asked me where my coat, shoes or lipstick is from, I could retire in the Amalfi Coast right now. I mean, I constantly ask other content creators where to find what they’re wearing too. And you know what’s incredibly rude? When someone tags a bomb pair of boots, I search the whole of Nordstrom for it, and I cannot find it for the life of me. Like seriously Susan, I just want to cop that perfect pair of snakeskin print knee high boots!

Enter LiketoKnow.it. It was created to give people the opportunity to shop the exact same products that their favourite content creators are wearing. So, instead of searching the depths of the internet to find said pair of snakeskin boots, you can shop it using the link that the content creator has provided. The benefit for the content creator is to make the products easily available to their community, while earning a small commission through affiliate links.

Um, Commission?

Although as a consumer, I’ve never had an issue with content creators using affiliate links (even before I myself became a blogger), some of you may have concerns about this. So let me break it down for you. liketoknow.it has partnerships with retailers like Nordstrom, Revolve, Sephora, etc, to make it so that content creators earn a small commission when someone buys a product using their links. I think it’s a great system because if I like something and buy it using a link that another content creator provided, I’m more than happy for them to earn a commission. It’s not like I pay anything more than I would when not using their links.

How Do I Use Liketoknow.It?

So now that you know how it works, here’s how you use it. You can download the liketoknow.it app, and follow your favourite content creators on it. That way, every time, they post on the app, you can click on the image and see the links they used. Think of it like an Instagram, but for shopping. Alternatively, if you have the app, a really cool feature is that if you screenshot an image on Instagram, you can shop it directly on the LTK app.

I hope this gives you an idea of what liketoknow.it is, how to use it, and clarifies any questions you have on commissions. Do you guys feel like it makes your life easier?
