Gusto 101

Gusto 101

This weekend for brunch, I revisited an oldie but goodie. Gusto 101 is a local favourite for Italian food, but what I wasn’t aware of was the fact that they also served brunch. So when Didier invited myself and Rosa to join him for Sunday brunch, who was I to say no? As soon as I arrived at the bright, airy second floor of the restaurant, I had a feeling we were in for a treat. We decided to order four different things and share, which in my humble opinion, is the only way to do brunch.

The Uova in Camicia, an Italian take on eggs benny. This particular dish resulted in some pretty serious yolk porn, the eggs were poached to perfection.

The Eggs in Purgatorio, eggs cooked in tomato sauce, which Didier slathered in olive oil for the pictures. Do it for the ‘gram and hope to god that olive oil, is, indeed good for you.

The Mafalde ai Funghi, which isn’t technically a brunch dish, but is nonetheless, my favourite thing on the menu. It’s mushroom pasta with truffle cream sauce, in other words, love on a plate.

We finished our meals off with lemon ricotta pancakes, which were soft, delicious, and bursting with flavour.

A restaurant to add to your brunch list. If you don’t leave with a food coma, I’ll change my name.

All of these dishes look amazing! I’m usually partial to eggs benny, but I could eat every one of these, or at least taste them all!!
