Dress: Free People; Sandal: Charles & Keith (similar here, here and here)

Taking it back to Tulum, this was the very first outfit I shot during my trip. While I usually lean towards clean lines and solid colours, I couldn’t resist buying this boho chic maxi from Free People. It made me feel like my best, most confident self, and worked perfectly with the weather in Tulum. While on my trip, I realized why people who live in California have such a distinctly different style from people in say New York or Toronto – it’s because structured pieces just don’t work with the beach! Flowing skirts and tops look so much better and really capture the easygoing lifestyle that goes hand in hand with the ocean. Going through these pictures, I’m tempted to plan yet another vacation, in my head I’m already back in Tulum.

    Oh, I never thought about boho style being related to California, but it totally makes sense now!:) It’s true that flowing, effortless styles look the best on the beach. And of course, I love that dress by Free People you are wearing; I would definitely buy it if I saw it in a store:) Just beautiful.
