This past summer, while walking down Mayfair with my dad, I remember walking past The May Fair Hotel, thinking how beautiful it was and how much I would have liked to stay there. Low and behold, a few months later, I found myself rolling my suitcases into its lobby, checking in for a two-night stay. Did it live up to its expectations? In short, absolutely.
First things first, let’s talk about location. Located in the heart of Mayfair, one of London’s chicest neighbourhoods, The May Fair Hotel is a stone throw away from restaurants and shops galore. And by shops, I mean everything ranging from H&M to Vivienne Westwood. Literally a shopper’s paradise. It’s also about a 2 minute walk to Green Park station, which is super convenient if you want to get anywhere.
Moving on to the rooms. They’re big and spacious with lots of natural light. The bathrooms are massive as well. One of the cool features that The May Fair Hotel has is their in-room dining. Don’t roll your eyes, I promise it’s not just an a la carte breakfast that I’m raving about. So they have this in-room dining service where you can get like a 3 course meal. And they offer different cuisines. I tried out their Taste of Arabia menu for lunch, and my god it was amazing.
But to be honest, I’m not exactly surprised that the in-room dining is good, because The May Fair Hotel is home to one of my favourite restaurants in London, The Mayfair Kitchen. So back story: last year, I stumbled upon Monmouth Kitchen while looking for a good restaurant for lunch. You guys, the food there is so good, I can’t even deal. They have these lamb cutlets on hot lava stone which are to die for. Anyway, May Fair Kitchen is Monmouth Kitchen’s sister restaurant, and it has the lamb. Obviously I also ended up eating dinner here another night.
While we’re on the topic of food, I should also mention that they have a pretty great breakfast. What I appreciate is that they have lots of options to fit your dietary requirements. They have chia and flax seeds available to add to your yogurt, and lots of smoked salmon and avocado.
This is a hotel I would recommend to anyone and everyone. The vibe is luxurious but cool and friendly.
